The man behind this

Well here we go, blog post one. The man behind this website and the business. So it’s only fair to introduce myself to you here.

My name is Christian and I started with photography when I was an early teenager. I pretended that my dad’s analogue camera with lens was a laser rifle from Star Wars. It took me some time to really start shooting photos. In my early teens my parents gifted me with an Olympus Camedia Zoom, which was a digital camera. And I loved it! I shot a lot of photos but soon came to realise that my ambitions outgrew the handy little camera. Nightshots were a problem without a tripod and any attempt to do good in night time shooting ended in disaster.

So it was sometime later that I made the jump into the DSLR world, and it was a brand new Nikon D3100 camera with kit lenses. Now I disagree with anyone who tells me that kit lenses are rubbish and not worth the money. I’ve taken plenty of amazing shots where people were surprised I didn’t use higher quality kit. Don’t get me wrong, a F2.8 lens is still better than the kit F5.4 lens, but you’d be surprised how much you can do with knowledge, a tripod and patience!

I shot the D3100 for many years and still do in 2024, but a lot of cameras have since joined me on my journey. There would be:

  • my father’s FujicaST 605

  • my Minolta XG-1

  • my Bronica ETRSi medium format camera

  • my Nikon D750

As you can see, I do have quite a bit of kit and experience in shooting digital and analogue. So when you look at my photos try and see to spot which ones were taken on film and which ones were burned in binary onto an SD card.

See you around!
