My best time at a race weekend at Knockhill

The first and so far only time I went to a racing circuit to capture a race and side program. I remember the weekend. It started off dry but soon some rain came which thankfully disappeared quickly, which is rare for Scotland. But of course, I wasn’t complaining 😃

It was a BTCC weekend and the side program was really interesting and entertaining. There was access to the pits and the whole circuit was open. I remember that during my weekend there I must have circumvented the circuit 10 times or more. Which was good for my physical health. Back then I was shooting with my D3100 and kit lenses. I was carrying a small shoulder bag as otherwise I’d have died of exhaustion.

Reflecting on this weekend I think it wasn’t the main event that I found most interesting but the supporting program around it. There were a lot of interesting races and cars present and I was thankful back then to have the capacity to shoot thousands of photos per battery pack and SD card. And a lot I shot. After trimming most photos I was left with a few hundred.

There was the BTCC main event, the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, the Ginetta round and another race event. I have included a gallery of some of my shots down below. Overall it was a really nice event and I left the weekend happy and exhausted. I hope to visit Silverstone at some point. But I doubt that I’ll be able to walk around the circuit then, at least Silverstone is a completely different ballgame. It would be fun though to take a few photos of other racing series there.

That’s a really fond memory of an amazing event.
