This is a photo I took after Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed away. She was queen when I was born and pretty much through my teenage years up into adulthood. She was always there, so I took her for granted. So what I want to tell you is that nothing lasts forever.

In our lives, we always tend to take things for granted. But the truth is that nothing in life lasts forever. So I think it’s important that we all realize that every day is a new day. Whatever happened the day before or even in the last hour it’s gone. We can all make a choice to feel more happy and try to become better versions of ourselves and not repeat mistakes again. Now, generally speaking, with creatives/photographers in mind, we should always be happy to shoot, and photos that make it into our portfolios are keepers.

Don’t be swayed by Instagram and all the delicious photos. I bet that almost all photos are modified with filters. Instagram makes it hard to find your voice, and I think you will edit the photo your potential audience likes. But you’ll never find your style that way. For you to be happy, you need to find your style and stick with it. Don’t get me wrong, editing a photo to make it look like you saw it is fine. Cameras can only go that far.

But comparing yourself to others will only either make you more frustrated or you actually might feel too comfortable or cocky. Neither is healthy for you.

Live your life and not someone else’s.
