The story behind the photo (1)

Galloway Forest Park is around 1hr 10 minutes away from Glasgow and I went there once. The area of the park is massive. The parking is free and there’re many ways to experience the park in your own time and to get lost there. It’s one of the most beautiful parks I’ve ever went to.

This was taken with my old Nikon D3100 and a tripod which I took on this trip with me to do some long exposure photography as well. I can’t remember the name of the place where I took this shot, but it was the beginning of my love affair with this amazing park in Scotland. The stream leads down a faster mini waterfall and the paths are as you see here in the photo. I parked the car nearby and went onto a mini trail loop that took me only 30 minutes or so to complete.

I had some afternoon tea in the area before I made my way to another location. Back then I didn’t plan on where to go and just started driving. It felt free and relaxing. Some of the ways to get to places were single tracks with deep groves so I had to deploy some offroading skills as otherwise I’d have beached my car. Occasionally, another car would come my way and then it was a matter of carefully manoeuvring past each other to ensure nobody had to reverse for too long.

I spent the better part of 8 hours in this stunning location and felt that I only had visited 2% of this magnificent park. If I can I’ll be back for some more of this magic.
