This realisation came suddenly and should’ve been obvious. This can help you too
As mentioned in many of my posts I want to share with you my journey of trying to make it as photographer in todays world. Part of this is to find out what you want to sell.
And in my case I want to sell at work that I like and think that I can transmit a good vibe into your home. Therefore you’ll find multiple genres in my portfolio. I don’t like to classify myself only as landscape or event photographer.
Instead, I shout a lot of genres and I love it! But one thing hit me and I want you to think about this as well. Let me explain as this might get a bit complicated.
What was this realisation then?
If you check out my website you’ll find plenty of photos and genres. And if you pay close attention you’ll see a difference in photo quality. This doesn’t mean that I’m uploading bad quality photos. But as of right now I’m a hybrid shooter and currently prefer to shoot film most of the time. And my passion when it comes to film is black and white photography. There’s something about black and white that stimulates me. I do go as far and say that when I shout I see the final image in black and white.
And for me that was a brilliant realisation. I don’t care so much about the genres but as of right now my work of digital and film is mixed within each genre and I want to offer black and white photos exclusively. There’s a beauty to it and it’ll help me to just offer a cohesive experience.
What this means for you dear reader
Of course I’m not saying you should shout black and white and I just wanted to provide some background for you. It’s all about you. And what I’m dating is to not focus on your genes too much but if you want to shoot colour or black and white. Think what you shoot the most and focus on it. Enjoy it and perfectionate it. Your shooting might become more focused and you might become more happy.
Final thoughts
If you made it this far thank you for reading all of it. I’d really like to hear from you if you feel the same or what realisations you had when it comes to your photography. Do you agree with me or do you think I do have a flaw in my theory? I’m just excited for you and me on our journey.
Keep shooting and stay happy.
